In the heart of the Brda region, at Vila Vipolže, a special film event will take place for the third time, bringing Slovenian documentary film making closer to audiences as part of the Dokumentarnica workshop. The event coincides with International Women's Day, Men's Day, and St. Gregory's Day.

On Friday, March 7, 2025, at 7:00 PM, the documentary film Cent’anni by director and screenwriter Maja Doroteja Prelog will be screened. This poignant personal story about confronting a terminal illness unfolds into an intimate portrait of a long-term partnership. The film, which impressed audiences at festivals in Trieste and Portorož and received multiple awards, will be followed by a discussion with the author, moderated by director Boris Petkovič.

On Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 7:00 PM, the program continues with the screening of In My Dreams, a Tree Grows Every Night, a documentary by director and screenwriter Vid Hajnšek. This poetic cinematic mosaic intertwines the photography of Stojan Kerbler, the poetry of France Forstnerič, and the stories of different generations of Haloze inhabitants, exploring the collective memory of the community. The film, which won the Vesna Award for Best Documentary at the Festival of Slovenian Film in Portorož, will be followed by a discussion with the author, moderated by director Anja Medved.

Admission is free, join us.

The events are part of the Dokumentarnica program, co-financed by the Slovenian Film Center, a public agency, and co-organized by the Slovenian Directors’ Guild, Kinoatelje, the Institute for Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Sports Brda, KINOkašča/CINEMattic, and the Kolo Association. Kinoatelje is participating as part of the Kinovozlišče project, which is included in the official program of the European Capital of Culture GO! 2025.
