From Jesuit experiments in Piazza Grande and early screenings in beer gardens to the city’s first cinemas, this walk traces the evolution of film culture in Gorizia. It explores how cinema adapted during wartime and how it regained its place in post-war life, offering a unique perspective on the city.

More about the walk:

The history of Gorizia and its cinemas is so captivating that Kinoatelje, as part of the Nostro cine quotidiano project, has dedicated an entire walk to it.

Film critic and journalist Sandro Scandolara gathered information, anecdotes, and memories about Gorizia’s cinematic past in his 1990s column for Il Piccolo, later compiled into the book Nostro cine quotidiano.

During the walk “Big Screens: Cinema in the City,” film ambassadors will bring these stories to life for the very first time.
