The Travelling Kino Soča - Isonzo Cinema kicks off the new year with its first screening in Osek

Screenings 1. 2. 2025 • 19:00 • Osek

The Travelling Kino Soča - Isonzo Cinema, established in 2024, sets up annual open-air cinemas in picturesque locations along the border, in collaboration with key regional partners. Before summer arrives, when we will enjoy moving images under the open sky, a series of events awaits where film finds its home in multipurpose halls of smaller towns rarely visited by cinema.

On Saturday, 1 February 2025, at 7:00 PM, we will host an event at a new location, Dom krajanov Osek, featuring the screening of the documentary film My Border, directed in 2002 by Anja Medved and Nadja Velušček, produced by Kinoatelje. On this occasion, the directors will join us at the screening. This documentary video narrative is dedicated to younger generations, for whom the border has never been a barrier but an objective, natural given—like the Isonzo (Soča) River flowing alongside it—and also to the generation who experienced the border when it was still called the "Iron Curtain."

In the year of the European Capital of Culture GO! 2025, new locations will come to life within the framework of the Travelling Kino Soča - Isonzo Cinema, with the goal of spreading film culture to smaller towns and remote areas often lacking adequate infrastructure for high-quality film screenings. Cinephiles and culture enthusiasts will have the opportunity to enjoy screenings at scenic locations along the Soča River, whether under the open sky or indoors in multipurpose halls like the one in Osek.

The event is part of the Go Green Cinema project, addressing a broader cross-border audience, local residents, casual foreign visitors, and participants of the European Capital of Culture GO! 2025 programs. It is supported by the European Union through the GO! 2025 Small Projects Fund, under the Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia 2021-2027 program, managed by the EGTC GO, www.ita-slo.eu & www.euro-go.eu/spf

All events are free of charge and suitable for both Slovenian and Italian audiences.
