Call for Entries for First Crossings is Now Open!

Bold, fresh, unique – First Crossings is back! The short film section dedicated to daring cinematic languages and creative breakthroughs returns for its seventh edition – once again as part of the cross-border film festival Tribute to a vision, which this year will shine even brighter as part of the official programme of the European Capital of Culture GO! 2025.

Whether pushing the boundaries of form, content, courage, or perception – we're looking for films that challenge norms, broaden horizons, and spark genuine dialogue. We welcome short films of all genres that move, provoke thought, and showcase the boundless potential of audiovisual expression.

What are we looking for?
• Bold and innovative short films up to 30 minutes
• Films must have been completed between 2022 and 2025
• Filmmakers who think outside the box
• Films from all over the world (non-English films must include English subtitles)

Where and when?
From October 7 to 12, 2025 in Nova Gorica and Gorizia – where cultures meet, in the heart of Europe, where cinema truly comes alive.

Awards:
– Jury Award: € 500
– Audience Award: Recognition and the spotlight of the festival crowd
