Dates of the film walks: “Nora Gregor: Diva of Multicultural Gorizia”

6. 2. 2025 • News

"The years leading up to the outbreak of the First World War were passing, a time when the Gregor family and many German-speaking citizens still called Gorizia their home."

On February 3, we launched the cycle of film walks within Kinoatelje’s project Nostro cine quotidiano – Our Ordinary Cinema with a cake and a lecture. This series includes five walks dedicated to the stories, figures, places, and films that have shaped the history of film culture in Gorizia and Nova Gorica.

The first set of walks is dedicated to Nora Gregor, a film and theater actress born on February 3, 1901, in Gorizia, who became one of the most significant actresses of her time, working both in Europe and Hollywood. Her career includes notable roles, such as in Michael (1924) by Carl Theodor Dreyer and Jean Renoir’s classic The Rules of the Game (1939). Her life story reflects the multicultural and multilingual Gorizia, where various influences intertwined until the turmoil of war changed the destiny of the city and its inhabitants.
