A customs office on the border between two cities, two nations, two social systems, and two cultural worlds—Romanic and Slavic—65 years after the end of World War II. On December 20, 2007, with Slovenia's entry into the Schengen Zone, Nova Gorica finds itself, for the first time in its short history, without border barriers. That same evening, this once-traumatic space transforms into a place of encounters. A camera, microphone, computer, and curtain are set up, creating a private space for recalling memories. People arrive from both sides, bringing with them stories and images to contribute to a shared album of memories. Entrusted recollections, along with fragments of family and archival films shot in this borderland, narrate how two distinct realities can coexist in the same place at the same time.
