Let's Meet
The motto of the European Union, "united in diversity," reflects the profound significance of cultural diversity rooted deeply in European history. However, awareness of this phenomenon remains insufficiently established. The heritage of diversity is particularly evident in the biographies of Europe's most prominent cultural figures—writers, poets, musicians, sculptors, painters, designers, architects, and more. Many of them were born in ethnically mixed regions, shaped by various religions, traditions, and cultures. This diversity is reflected in their works, which often transcend and synthesize different elements to create new values.
Central and Eastern Europe, characterized by its cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity, has provided exceptionally favorable conditions for the development of artists who unite different cultures and traditions. Disseminating knowledge about these figures is crucial for strengthening the European civic identity and cultural awareness of all EU citizens, fostering intercultural dialogue.
We invite you to listen to the podcasts created as part of this project, showcasing the intercultural diversity of our shared European space. Listen here.
Partnership
The project partners include: Kolegium Europy Wschodniej (College of Eastern Europe) – Wroclaw, as the consortium leader, Kinoatelje – Gorizia and Nova Gorica, ALDA (European Association for Local Democracy) – Strasbourg and Brussels, NARA – Vilnius, and Szépírók Társasága (Society of Hungarian Authors) – Budapest.
The project is funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union and the Fundacja Rozwoju Systemu Edukacji.
General Project Activities
The project's primary activity involves producing 44 podcasts, divided into approximately 20 mini-series. Each podcast highlights a specific personality or theme from a local perspective. However, thanks to a unified format, storytelling approach, and shared language—English—the podcasts present these personalities or themes from multiple perspectives cohesively. The same ideas and approaches are also conveyed through a documentary film.
All materials will be made available to the public through a free, online educational platform. The project also includes a series of training sessions for students. These educational activities, conducted online, focus on the use of modern media and media literacy.
Project Objectives
The project aims to enhance the societal and educational value of European cultural heritage through the use of new media. The educational platform is designed to support the development of knowledge and creative skills among students.
The primary goal is to foster knowledge and understanding of the shared cultural, social, and historical heritage of the EU, as well as an awareness of the diversity of perspectives and approaches. These should not be denied or excluded but supported and strengthened.
